LoCITY was launched by Transport for London (TfL) in January 2016 to encourage the uptake of low emission commercial vehicles. It is a five-year industry-led collaborative programme that has brought together fleet operators, policy makers, and vehicle manufacturers to improve London’s air quality.
We are a technology neutral programme but with a clear focus on transitioning towards zero emission vehicles. For this reason LoCITY provides fleet operators with open access tools they can use to better understand the availability, costs and benefits of competing vehicle technologies against a diesel. Over 2,000 individuals have attended a free LoCITY funded event to meet, discuss and learn about alternatively fuelled vehicles from their industry peers.
Our website contains the latest independent research, refuelling/recharging maps, and toolkits which address common misconceptions around hydrogen, gas, and electric technology. These activities are all preparing the freight industry for the introduction of the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) on the 10th April 2019 but also keeping London’s businesses a step ahead should Zero Emission Zones be introduced in other cities across the UK.
